Do you have to hire a designer for your print on demand products?
I have to stop the false info that is going around the print-on-demand world. People are saying you have to hire designers for your print-on-demand shop. And this is NOT true.
While you can hire a designer if you are trying to create a design that you’re not able to find the right elements for or maybe it is a really involved design that will take more expertise from a seasoned professional that would be the only time I would ever suggest hiring a designer.
The exciting thing about creating print-on-demand designs for your shop is you can use other people’s graphics and fonts by purchasing a license to do so. This way will most likely be much cheaper and easier.
I did a video about this on my Youtube channel if you want t check it out.
The truth is you do not have to hire a designer to create your print-on-demand designs.
My top 3 go-to places to find elements and fonts you can use for your POD designs:
1. Creative Market

Creative market has so many graphics and fonts to choose from to use in your print-on demand designs.
What you do is purchase the license from Creative Market to use the files commercially.
Then after purchase, you download the files, then upload them to your design software such as Canva or Photoshop and create away.
Be sure to read all licensing requirements before buying as some designers will not allow use with POD products or you might have to buy an extended license to use. But I have found this to be rare.
This is an example of the licenses that Create Market offers for clip art/elements.

2. CANVA
Canva is an amazing resource to find fonts as well as design elements for your print on demand products.
In order to use the fonts and graphics commercially, you need to sign up with Canva Pro. As of 2021, the cost for pro membership runs at $9.99 per month which is such a great deal since there are tons of elements and fonts to choose from.
For example, when you type in flowers, you will see so many elements. Here is a screenshot of what it looks like. You can keep scrolling down and there will be so many to choose from.
There are tons of built-in fonts to choose from and you also have the option to upload fonts you purchase.
There are also existing design templates to make your marketing materials for your shop and are great to use for your Etsy listing photos. I have found the templates save so much time.
You can also create brand portfolios with your colors, logo, and fonts to make things even easier when working in Canva.
Canva pro is also very easy to use and I often use it over Photoshop.

3. ETSY

Etsy is another great place to find design clipart for your POD products as well as fonts.
You need to read the individual listings to check that you’re able to use the elements and fonts commercially.
Some shops say that you can, other listings say you have to buy an extended license, others say you can create a certain number of end products for sale with the standard license.
Just make sure to do your due diligence when it comes to using the design by reading the product description. If the listing doesn’t say if you can use the clipart of font commercially, then just message the shop owner.
It’s really that easy.
The options are endless
So now you know that you don’t have to hire a designer to create designs for your shop.
There are many options to choose from when looking for design elements and fonts that will fit the idea you have in mind for your design.
The fun part is you get to play around with different designs, fonts, placements, colors and see what creative ideas you can come up with.
You can create something unique that your customer’s won’t be able to find anywhere else. Something they will have to buy from you because no one else has it.
That’s part of the fun of print on demand.
