What is the Best Way to Sell T-shirts online?
When I started my first two t-shirt businesses I made a huge mistake. I opened up a Shopify store for each of them.
I spent countless hours trying to perfect my sites, to make them cute.
I thought the customers would just come. But I was sadly mistakened.
I tried really hard to market both websites on Pinterest and Insta. Still no one was buying.
If only I know that I was starting out all wrong.
I never realized that one of the best ways to sell t-shirts online was to leverage another website’s traffic.
That website was and still is Etsy.
Per Etsy’s website, in 2020 there were more than 61 million new and reactivated shoppers on the Etsy platform. From October to December of 2020 Shoppers also spent $3.3 billion on Etsy.
Those are some crazy numbers right!?
Do you know how long it would take and how many marketing dollars it would cost for you to get that many customers to your website in a sufficient amount of time?
I dunno but it’s a LOT.
Now I’m not saying to never start up a Shopify store or other store that you control. In time I think you should.
My opinion is if you a new clothing company, then the best way to sell t-shirts online is Etsy by far.

Some benefits to selling t-shirts on Etsy are:
- T-Shirts on Etsy (heck all types of apparel) are way popular on Etsy
- Customers on Etsy love customization which you can easily provide with your t-shirts
- Etsy makes it easy to set up shop so you can focus on creating new products and making sales
- Etsy integrates well with print-on-demand providers like Printify and Printful.
- Customers trust Etsy so they are more inclined to buy
- You can get set up on Etsy with very little money (it costs 20 cents to list an item). You can even get 40 free listings if you google it or search on Etsy.
Personally, I think Etsy is the way to go to get your clothing shop started with a bang.
Have you opened an Etsy shop yet? If not what are you waiting for?
